Close to 4 stars, but not quite there. Excellent beginning that really puts you in the position of a daily amnesiac dealing with the uncertainties of both her own memories and how much to trust those around her. The bulk of the book does a pretty good job of continuing that, exploring the confusion, the pain, and the increasing feeling that there may be something sinister just beyond her memory's reach. There *were* times where I felt all of that wasn't handled as well as it might have been by the author, and that feeling increased at the end. Not that I objected to the actual ending, which worked very well, but in how the author approached it and the mechanics of its revelation. It's a book that's hard to put down though, and I'm happy to have read it.
