Christmas comes to Harmony Friends, and the usual townfolk are all here, Dale and his big ideas for spreading the Gospel to the unwashed masses, Fern with her righteous and holy reasonings for not sharing her pew or straying from any tradition once put forth by her grandmother, the good, the strict, and the gentle.

This is a much shorter, faster read than the other harmony series...shouldn't take more than an afternoon of reading. Nothing heavy, but plenty of sweet moments packed into a few short chapters.

Sam, the fearless Friends minister, isn't as cynical in this one. He seems more sentimental than the Sam in the previous three books, but maybe he just loves Christmas.

Plenty of things made me smile: the teenager portraying Mary in the Nativity in her bathrobe, the sweet little boy awestruck by Santa, the newspaper man offering to photograph the livestock in Sam's front yard, and the references to the town's Corn & Sausage Pageant.

Good for anyone just keeping up with Harmony, or not a bad first book if you haven't been to Harmony yet.
