Corruption is endemic in Commissario Brunetti's Venice--building department, finance and taxation, money lenders are all part of web that flaunts justice and equity. I love the cynical presentation of a system that cannot be changed juxtaposed against life, family, food in a beautiful and beloved city. This was one of my favorites with more than a dozen left to read/
