Touch was a good start to what I hope will become a great YA series. Deznee is a a great heroine, she's not one of those cookie cutter YA heroines who are innocent, perfect and holier than thou..no Deznee likes to party, drink and tease boys.. she'll do anything to piss off her dad who she doesn't get along with.
Deznee is returning home from a party when a boy lands at her feet, he's being chased by some men with guns..Deznee decides to help him, this inevitably leads to a whole lot of trouble.
Deznee takes the boy - Kale home with her and it's not long before her dad returns and is pointing a gun at them both. Deznee finds out that her dad is not who she thought he was and that he is actually a very very bad guy.. So Kale and Deznee go on the run from her dad and the people who he works for. Kale is a Six - someone with a power and who grew up in Denazen (a facility which keeps Sixes prisoners).. he has the power to kill with his touch so he's highly valuable to Denazen who use Sixes to assasinate people. Kale doesn't know much about the outside world, he's fascinated by rain and doesn't really know anything about kissing.. even though he's very innocent he's still a bit of a badass. Together Deznee and Kale find out more about her dad, what happened to her mother, other Sixes outside of Denazen and Kale's family.
I'm hoping in the next book we find out more about why Deznee's dad hates her, Deznee's powers, who runs Denazen and the other Sixes on the outside.
