1st in Caretakers trilogy

Jack thought he was an average American teen, until the day his parents told him to run for his life. He quickly figures out that nothing is as it seems. His parents were not his parents, instead they were his guardians from the future. Jack is the beacon of hope, sent back from the future to save the world before the environment is destroyed. Now Jack is on the run from cyborgs and other monsters of the future who are bent on destroying him before he can find the Firestorm, the key to saving the world. Jack is allied by a telepathic dog and a kick butt girl who teach him what it takes to survive long enough to find the Firestorm.

This was a hard read for me. I am not a big fan of this type of science fiction. But I hung on and read the whole thing. The book was written much more like a screenplay, made to right to the big screen, which made it not as much fun for me to read. While I made it through this book, I will probably not read the second or third.
