I had some issues with this book and it makes me so sad because I adore this series, but in the end this book was one I just couldn't get into. I had a hard time connecting with the main characters of Tom and Nora and I found their story less than interesting. With each page turned I just couldn't find a reason to care about their lives.

Even when the reader was first introduced to Nora, I found her to be an obnoxious character and it never entered my mind that Carr would devote a whole book to her. I couldn't even find sympathy for her whole messed up family situation and the fact that she was taken advantage of by her boyfriend. She was just the least compelling character I've ever seen in Carr's series to date.

Meanwhile, Tom and Nora together were just uninspired. Their relationship took a long time to develop and once they were really involved I almost didn't even notice.

The one saving grace in the story was Maxie. She was a great character and I loved how she kept butting her nose in Tom's business. Also, I was intrigued by the character of Coop, and would like to see where that storyline goes in the future.

So all in all, not a favorite book of mine in this series but hopefully this was just a little glitch. Especially considering I just read the previous book Redwood Bend and adored that one. Here's to hoping the next book will be just as good as Bend and the other books in this series.

Darcy Sorry to see that this one didn't get better for you.

Jess Yeah I'm sad that I couldn't get into it. I think it really was just that I didn't like Nora and Tom. I'm sure the next book will be more interesting.

Darcy Hopefully the next one will be a good one for you.

Jess Keeping my fingers crossed!!
