Great read, fascinating although sad time of history. This book took me through a series of emotions including terror, frustration, dissappointment, fear, anger, trepidation, and finally relief, relief that it's all in the past now...but prejudice is so ugly, and hurts so many! This book was an effective welding of fiction and history. I learned a lot about leprosy in the early Hawaiian history, as well as some intriguing history of how Hawaii became part of the United States.
