'Has the fate of the Siberian natives been similar to that of the Indians and Eskimos of North America?' the author asks. The answer is, extremely similar, but the tale has been less told. A sad and bloody tale, and the first full treatment in English, not of Siberia or Russia-in-Siberia but its indigenous peoples.
