Touched deals with the question of what someone would give to be able to see the future. Nick Cross, the main character, would give anything not to be able to see the future anymore. I thought the idea of seeing my future would be a cool power to have, but Nick sees it as a curse. I was fascinated by the way the future plagued Nick’s every move; it literally controlled everything in his life. As the story went on, I realized what a torture it would be to be able to know when and how you and those you loved would die. I thought the plot was also very interesting because several plot bombs were dropped throughout the story. This all lead up to a cliff hanger that I was not expecting.
The relationship between Nick and Taryn was intriguing. Their connection was so sweet and I could tell that they really cared about each other. It was like they kept being drawn together even when the future was shaky. Nick was brave to risk the future he loved for Taryn. Taryn was also brave to go against her strict grandmother and continue to see Nick. In the end, it was obvious that they belonged together.
Overall, Touched was a great book that really explored the idea of knowing what will happen in advance and what you will sacrifice to know.
