(I am reviewing children's picture books because I bought two as a present for a little girl. Of course when you give books to children you have to read them first... so I say.)

Three things that I have known from an early age:

1. Libraries are very important places which must be visited frequently.
2. One must behave respectfully in a library.
3. Some things are more important than respectful behavior -- even in libraries.

So this book suits me very well. It's about a lion who is allowed to visit the library every day, provided that he follows the rules, but who is able to save the chief librarian by breaking one of the rules.

I can't decide whether this would have been my favorite book when I was picture-book age, or whether I wasn't yet self-conscious enough to appreciate a book about books. Anyway, I can't resist it now.
