An afternoon read that humbled and motivated me to be more charitable.

John Weightman is a charitable business man as far as the world is concerned. He has a plan and motive for everything, donating a new school to rub shoulders with certain other notable men, and the like. His son asks him for money to help a friend and John doesn't feel it is any kind of investment and so refuses. In a dream John learns that while being 'charitable' on earth, it doesn't leave much to be honored in the after life.

I love the idea of building mansions in heaven!! I also liked the way the Van Dyke broke the news to Weightman, "Would you be paid twice?" it was a simple statement that was delivered in a thought provoking way so Weightman couldn't place the blame anywhere but himself.
