Another hugely entertaining novel from Ian Woodhead, with some delightfully gruesome creatures.

An alien spore has wiped out everyone over the age of 40 (that's me in trouble) and now the survivors have to cope with the spore's coup de grace -- the infected are mutating into horrible beasties with an interest in human flesh.

Like his other works, Spores is packed with personality and the author shows a keen eye for characterisation and absorbing storytelling.

The abrupt ending threw me a bit (no give-aways!) but that might have just been me. Regardless, the author pulls away at a cliff edge, leaving you yearning to know what happens next -- all set for the sequel then. It certainly left me salivating for more.

I'm a great one for re-reading novels and I can easily see myself returning to Spores for a second helping. Overall, it is a highly enjoyable journey into the author's twisted mindscape!

Lostaccount Darkpool The abrupt ending left me gagging for a sequel, so maybe it's a good thing.
