When I first read the Magician's Nephew, I thought it would be awesome to write a book about all the other pools they could have jumped through in the "wood between the worlds." This is basically that book. It draws heavily from Narnia and in addition it takes place in Kansas and there are characters named Henry and Dorothy. However it's more homage than derivation, I think. This is the first book I have rated five stars in awhile, iirc, and I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for good books for their kids, or just people who want a fast, quick read. I'm happy to see that there are other books in the series which I will be checking the library for promptly.
