Although I've never been moved to pick up and read a book like this, loosely catalogued under 'women's fiction', I'm really glad I did.
The relationship between Bernadette and her daughter Bee pulled at my manly, hardensd heartstrings, and the Desperate Housewives style plot of schoolgate encounters and exhasperated husbands provided no end of good comedy.
Semple also clearly knows her way around the modern American lingo of start-ups, business motivationals and xanex, and uses this knowledge to great effect. This book really captures a family of geniuses made excentric over years of abnormal californian living - great read!
