Theodore ( he hated Teddy) Roosevelt is a fascinating character, and very different books have been written about him. General readers would probably prefer "Mornings on Horseback", but for anyone interested in the history of our national parks and forests this book is a must. The author is interested in Roosevelt mostly as the sculptor of our system of conservation of natural resources, and from that point of view it is a great book. Exhaustive, however, so put aside a few weeks if you are not a fst reader. Or you could just skip to the three maps at the end of the book which summarize the story.
