I didn't like this as much as some of her earlier books, but reading at the end of the book where I got the impression that her husband/partner died after a long illness, then I guess that explains why the character Alexandra just wasn't herself in this book. I did like that she seemed to end the relationship with Luc, but I was kind of looking forward to the setting and a big mystery in this small French village but that was very brief. That relationship just didn't work for me. And I wish I could ignore how many times she mentioned why it just is not a good idea for Mike and Alex to get involved despite their chemistry together. I am sure she is right, but yet that is what we all want. Maybe they could have a torrid one-nighter then go back to just being colleagues. I will continue to read the series and look forward to the next installment, not just for the recurring characters, but for the historic bits of New York as well.
