I have no idea what this book is about, but I am very excited at the idea of watching a Lucillian readalong!
I am very enthused at the idea of you two reading something together, sometime.I'm so silly, though, I received this book for review and it's waiting patiently to be read. :P

Lucy, I'm still in the middle of a LOTR books and movie read/watch along with Karen.
I have lots of indie books in my ebook shelf.
You already finished Angelfall, did you?
:..."
I did read Angelfall and really liked it. I'll save this one and read whenever you're ready.
The Holy Terror wrote: "I want a pairing name.

We can do a read along and make up a pairing name too!

We can do a three way read along?
If we're all going to read the same book I feel like I should research the author and make sure she isn't crazy before we promote interest like that. With my luck I'm leading everyone to a really bad book by someone insane. No one will ever forgive me and then I will be alone....
Back away from the delete button, you. I'd overnight ship my puppy to your bookstore as punishment. He's acquired a taste for books.
Lucy wrote: "With my luck I'm leading everyone to a really bad book by someone insane."This calls for some good old-fashioned googling.
Cillian wrote: "The Holy Terror wrote: ": )"Do I get a prize for the stalker of the year, eh?"
Eh, I don't hide it that well. :p
She was great when I spoke with her about the review, so... :)You guys let me know when you schedule your readalong, and I'll join if I can. I'm out of town starting next week and with loads of stuff I have to review, I just never know what's going on. But it would be fun! And this is a good book for a readalong, I think.
The Lucillian Terrody is my vote for the four-way if it happens.
Cillian wrote: "Lucillian Terrody is so much win!"I ... I love that so much.
"Terror, are you game, precious?"
Hmm, let's see. Library doesn't have it ... PBS doesn't have any copies ... it's $8.99 for the paperback but it's only $0.99 for Kindle ...
You're going to actually make me buy an ebook?
Hmm.
HMM.
Alright, I'm game.
Cillian wrote: "Okay then, where do we host it?"Doesn't matter to me, although, I suppose we should actually be friends if we're going to do a buddy read, no?
: \
Cillian wrote: "None of us have started it yet, and we won't until the four of us agree on a date."Oh.
Whoops.
(Just ignore my CR shelf ...)
Ooooh. Can you only read one book at a time?I don't know where Lucy is, she's probably reading Cinder or something. Wendy is MIA as well.
Ok, no biggie, I can wait. I have some friends who can only read one book at a time, and they can't jump around at all. Me, I'll read parts of 3 different books in one day with no problem.I've got a bunch from the library, including:

and it's only 200 pages so maybe I'll just read that one while I wait to read this one.
And you guys can pick the date, doesn't make any difference to me.
Cillian wrote: "so you guys knew in advance that I have lot more reading/discussing left to do.I know Wendy can't start right away, and I just remembered she went on a trip."
Ah ... yeah. I'm a bit slow on the uptake these days.
We shall see how creepy it is! I have a friend who said it was similar to/scarier than Anna.(Although ... the more we talk about this, the more I want to read it ...)
Ok didn't realize no one was quite reading it yet. Guess..I'll read it last then! I'm juggling a few books right now I can put this on the back burner :)And yeah THT, now I want to read it even more LOL.
SubterraneanCatalyst wrote: "And yeah THT, now I want to read it even more LOL."I know ... and my Kindle is giving me the ol' hairy eyeball for ignoring it ...
Hey sorry! I get up early here on the east coast. I'm good with reading it whenever Cillian is ready.
Haha, sorry for not answering. I wasn't following the threat. Yeah, I liked it fairly enough. Nothing particularly special, but I don't regret my 99 cents.
Oh fudge. Here I am, late to the party again!I think this date should work for me. Should we do this on Lucy's thread since this is where it all started? How many chapters should we aim to read each night? Somebody set some rules, please. :D
SubterraneanCatalyst wrote: "I'm in like Flynn..Lucy and THT are my friends so I assume I may join?"You can join! BUT you have to follow Cillian's rules. You can't be like Moss and say you'll do a buddy read, I say, let's read 100 pages a night so we'll be done in four days, and then you read the whole book in a couple of hours. (Argh, I still want to punch her for that one.)
So, 4 chapters a day, starting on 1/18
And use spoiler tags! If you don't know how, just type <?spoiler>stuff you want to hide?spoiler> but remove the question marks.
The Holy Terror wrote: "SubterraneanCatalyst wrote: "I'm in like Flynn..Lucy and THT are my friends so I assume I may join?"You can join! BUT you have to follow Cillian's rules. You can't be like Moss and say you'll do ..."
LMAO
I'll follow the rules..I have 80 other books I'm reading concurrently anyway :]
Cillian wrote: "Haaah, I'm not a sergeant, you can add more rules, THT!"Well, I don't want it to get too strict or anything. The only thing I worry about is wanting to read ahead. Do we want to have a rule that says we can only read 4 chapters and that's it?
SubterraneanCatalyst wrote: "I'll follow the rules..I have 80 other books I'm reading concurrently anyway :] "Ugh, I know. I'm trying to decide if I really need to take one for the team and read Butterfly Swords. : \

I looked at that book- that is indeed, kind of like taking it for the team. I'd offer to do it with you
I think four chapters a day is a good pace. If there is a huge cliffhanger or something, I don't mind if people read an additional one, but I agree we should try to keep the same pace and discuss as we go along as much as possible. Otherwise it's not a readalong!
Am I going to be the first to post reactions? Okay, here goes. I like how the author sets up the back story with just a few clues in the first chapter. Without going into a lot of detail too soon, you get a great snapshot of what's led the characters to be in this place at this time.
I enjoy Riley's voice. She and her brother both sound like teenagers without being too snarky/annoying. The relationship between the two of them is pretty typical/interesting.
I like the set-up explaining how she can see ghosts (though I wish that fancy syndrome had just been named) and how she wishes she could see her mother's.
I picture Mrs. Akin wielding a rolling pin with a threatening but pleasant expression, hah.
Is it weird that (view spoiler) That doesn't make any sense to me, especially doing it out in the open like that. I don't know a lot about the subject, but I always seem to hear about it happening at home in bathrooms, for obvious reasons.
I like that she feels what the ghost feels just before it dies. That's an interesting detail.
I've never had haggis. I don't believe I ever will.
Boys and boobs. *sigh*
Riiiilleeey Hah. I like it.
I just went to Rock Creek Cemetery a few days ago to see a statue I'd wanted to see since I was 10 years old, btw. I read a book about haunted places in Washington, DC and there was a story about a statue nicknamed "Grief" that was on the writer Henry Adams' wife's grave. People who view it are supposedly overwhelmed with a sense of sadness and begin to weep.

I do believe in ghosts, btw, but Marion's ghost left me alone that day. :D
