Deeper Than the Dead (Oak Knoll, #1)

I really must stop with these gruesome books with too vivid descriptions of how the victims die. Remember in the older mysteries, we just knew that a knife wound brought blood, not shredded the heart, opened the valves, with gallons of blood soaking - etc etc - but, I did read Ms. Tami Hoag's mystery thriller - no, not read, listened to the CDs and found the plot good, the characters believable and interesting and the dialogue real. The gory, ugh. Women (always the chicks) going a missing and then found by no less than children playing in the woods. Takes place in California 1985, besides the children their teacher, Anne Navarre, stumble upon the body. Anne is a good and caring teacher with quirky and even very bad children in her care. When vince Lone, an FBI agent, arrives on the scene sparks fly between Annie and Vince who is 20 years her senior. Lots of suspects and every time I thought, this one, not that one, twists and turns but I wasn't far off. A lot of crazy people, ugly deaths and love. What more could one want? Read by Kirsten Potter and liked her presentation.
