This book is about a girl named Addie who lives with her mom who fails to take care of her. Addie is forced to grow up and take care of herself because her mother is either never around or doesn't do anything for her. Her half sisters live with their step dad and she rarely gets to see them.
I think this is a great book for middle school students to read. It would give students an idea of how bad it can be for some students and to be thankful for what they have.
