Super connection for offering poetry in the social studies or American History classroom. Lee Bennett Hopkins does not disappoint in his ability to collect poetry on a theme. This is a celebration of our great nation.

Louise I LOVE this book and after it was first published, I asked my editor Margaret if Peter Fiore could be the illustrator for TOUCHING THE SKY Happily he agreed to do the book. HAND IN HAND was used by teaching friends as core texts in their social studies classes/ combined with poetry and writing workshop. Each child had a copy and wrote in the book

Paul Hankins How lovely, Louise. I'd love to see the book used this way locally.

Louise Judy Davis ( 5th grade/Manhattan New School) was the first teacher I saw using the book with class copies. (Years ago - soon after the book was first pub.)
