Serena Freeman is a professor at Cambridge University. more than that, she has devised a time machine!
she uses this to transfer her thoughts into/'talk' to (and vice versa) 'Nix Lafayette, a war reporter/marine in Guam during the second World War.
Nix comes to believe that he will only survive the war by emulating the Twelve Labours of Hercules (after Serena's inital suggestion).
a bit of an odd book... a fairly straightforward story, with the three strands (Serena, Nix, Hercules) cleverly but simply braided. (although the ending confused me slightly).
a quick, easy, entertaining but thought provoking read.
