The pace of this book seemed totally off to me. The amnesia thing went on for sooo long and then it took 2 sentences to go away. There weren't any new and exciting creatures, just ones that were new to Percy because he had no memory. It just wasn't great -- it felt like the same story as book 1, just from a different point of view (which it wasn't, but the writing felt that way). At least book 1 had cool creatures/powers/gadgets. The best thing about this book is the differences between the Greek and Roman way of life, and that wasn't emphasized very much because Percy couldn't remember that he was a Greek. It all went bad when the author committed to amnesia for the main character. Lame.
