Although it's a pretty short book, it's packed with great insights into the nature of Christian community. <br/> <br/>The first section which deals with some of the theology behind christian community is just amazing and Bonhoeffer really dispells some of the misconceptions/false expectations that we have of community. He draws it all back to Jesus and highlights the fact that He alone is the reason we can be united. I was really blown away by some of his statements and it's caused me to reflect a lot on what I expect from community, the way in which I love others, and what it really means to be a community through Jesus. <br/> <br/>The next section which gives some practicals for living in community was interesting but not as helpful since it's very specific and may not apply in all contexts. The principles and values are still really great though. <br/> <br/>My favorite part of this book though was actually the section on meditation and aloneness and how this is a necessary aspect to being in community as well. This was exactly what I needed to be reading right now, but apart from that fact - Bonhoeffer just gives some great spiritual truth. I'm really glad that there's a section about this in a book that's about 'community' b/c it paints a more holistic picture for what christian community means, rather than just talking about the part where we're together. <br/> <br/>This book seems like a classic (since so many others have recommended it) and I can see why. I hope to read it again soon and keep gaining from the wisdom offered here. <br/><br/><a href="http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/341986?utm_medium=api&utm_source=blog_review">View all my reviews.</a>
