bookshelves: fiction

Somehow, in a way that reminds me of E.M. Forster's best work, Franzen connects silly domestic concerns with the greater "condition of humanity." But I gotta knock off a star or two owing to the satirical parts where Franzen tries to diagnose youth culture, which were hard to stomach.
