A mildly erotic romance and second in the Devlin Dynasty series as well as in the Storm for All Seasons series. The couple focus is on Max Devlin and Shannon Storm and is set in New Orleans.


My Take
I was more impressed with the short story that began this series, Running Mate (found in the anthology Primal Heat). Still, it's a sweet romance that made me feel rather wrinkly thinking of all that storm water Shannon generates during sex that soaks the bed. I felt much better when Burton later claims that Shannon's storm powers also dry the bed out afterwards...LOL.

You'd think being in PR, Max would have a better idea of how to convince Shannon to move in with him as opposed to simply ordering her especially when they've only had sex a few times! And I so did not buy Max turning Shannon into a wolf shifter simply by getting her to admit she was his...gimme a break!


The Story
Max has been assigned to the South and he is not happy. He would much prefer Boston with its snow and the Red Sox to all this humidity. However, there just might be some compensation. After seeing that photo of Shannon Storm, Max needs to physically meet her and this PR campaign he'll be coordinating with her is a perfect opportunity.

True to her nature, Shannon and Max's first meeting is stormy and it just gets more so as the confrontations escalate for Max has some good suggestions for the campaign Shannon has already created and pushes her to go national if not international. Any strong emotion from Shannon sets off stormy weather with all its rain, wind, lightning, and thunder.

A strong and confident woman, Shannon is unwilling to give up the power to or for anything whether it's her plans for the ad campaign or sex with Max. A power Max fully intends to claim as a very dominant alpha wolf shifter but, for such a good PR man, with such a lousy way of convincing Shannon.


The Characters
Max Devlin is in public relations and is fulfilling the Devlin family/pack's mandate to spread out and multiply.

Shannon Storm runs the advertising for her family's company, The Rising Storm, and she's not happy that her brother has brought someone in from outside. Aidan and Logan are her brothers, Kaitlyn is her sister, and Angelina is her mother. Melissa Cross is a friend of Max's and she's about to marry Aidan Storm.


The Cover
It's an adequately sexy cover but it's not one that resembles the story. It is the spirit of it with the balcony overlooking a huge, nightlit city but it didn't need the leather and laced bathing suit the woman is wearing to tell us that the man with the barbed wire tattoo around his bicep is a dominant.

The title is accurate enough as Shannon keeps telling us that autumn is her season and with a storm power I can see where it could be a Fall Fury.
