Historical fiction about the court of Napoleon told from three perspectives: his second wife, Marie-Louise, his sister, Pauline, and Pauline's Haitian servant, Paul. This was an entertaining and fairly accurate historical novel. The plotting was brisk and the amount of detail was not overwhelming and Marie-Louise was a sympathetic character. Pauline Bonaparte was fascinating in a monstrous way. Recommended for fans of historical fiction in the Philippa Gregory style.
