After a bit of a slow start (setting up the new trilogy), this one really ended up being one of my favorite Lucky Harbor books. Ty and Mallory--with their tragic pasts--were both natural caretakers, and it was wonderful to see them take care of each other, and ultimately themselves. Their relationship was combustible and sexy, but also at times just really sweet. Lucky Harbor was quirky and fun as ever, but I really enjoyed seeing that it isn't just this idyllic little town untouched by the world outside, which is something I think small town romance often risks turning into. Can't wait to see what happens with Amy and Matt in the next installment!

I am curious about all of the set up for the new trilogy, that does tend to weigh down many first books in a series. I didnt think this one would need it, but i guess it does help make a book (or a sub series within a series?) a stand alone read too. I'll read it regardless as I have enjoyed it so much thus far.
Believe me I know it does (see criticism of my first book!). It's a tough thing to decide as a writer, whether you spend word count setting up the connection or just jump in feet first. My response to the set up in this one might have been influenced by the fact that I'd just come off of reading some very fast paced romantic suspense. But, she does spend some time laying out the heroines of the upcoming trilogy and since they aren't related to one another there isn't the sort of ready-made connection that the sisters of the previous Lucky Harbor books provided. Once it got going, though, I was engrossed.
