Pretty sure I heard about this book - part of a series of short screwball comedy romances recently re-released as ebooks - from the Smart Bitches. And I was thrilled to see that my library has at least this one as an ebook. Because library ebooks are made of win.

Anyway. I enjoyed this little book, which is more novella length than novel-length. David Dodd, the lottery winning slightly slobby next door neighbour is utterly charming. Kate Finn, tightly wound perfectionist cellist, is also charming and likeable. But what I really liked was the writing, which was tight and fluid and witty and so easy to read I pretty much devoured it. Screwball comedy is one of my favourite film genres, from the 1930's and 1940's, when they really knew how to do it. I didn't know romance novels came in this flavour, but now that I know there's a whole series of them, I'll be on the lookout for more.
