I think Rash does what great authors do: presents you with opposing views on a subject, embodies those views with complex characters and depicts both sides with grace and subtlety. Here he tackles environmentalism and it's effects on a small town. His novels (I've read all but Serena, so far) are all so darn accessible and thought provoking I can't think of a person who likes good fiction who wouldn't like them.
