It was the artwork that drew me to this book and it didn't disappoint. Selznick has crafted a collection of art that amazed me in the same way David Mack managed the first time i opened Kabuki Vol 1: Circle of Blood and brought it together with a wonderful adventure for kids.

After reading this I discovered that Martin Scorsese has made the movie version, which seems inevitable with the filmic style of most of the illustrations and Hollywood loves a movie about the movies. The discovery of the wonderful worlds of Georges Melies is perfect material and hopefully this book and the movie will help to encourage a new wave of affection towards not just Melies but the Lumiere Brothers and all the other early visionaries in cinematic history.
