I must have missed the part in Middle School where all my friends were jumpstarting their journalism careers and marketing their own fashion lines. Perhaps I was too busy figuring out algebra and trying to avoid playing dodgeball to notice? Haston's frighteningly precocious tweens provide plenty of drama and entertaining byplay, and the plot fair trips along, but the superficiality of the narrative takes the joy out of things and the heroine's lack of a character arc leaves her rather slap-worthy. Fluffier than marshmallows in a pillow fight and super-readable, but here's hoping that Haston graduates to something with a little more heart.
