A friend has been consumed by the Bizarre Fiction sub-genre, reading every work, especially by Cartlon Mellick III, a supposed progenitor of the movement. I found it tough going for a while. Mellick "shows off" by stoppning the narrative to flash some new take on religion or philosophy. It's a strange mix of surrealism, punk rock, sci-fi and end of days stuff. I dunno. It was an end of the world tale written about a different world - not the one we all live in now. It felt... sort of... Canadian. Just not exactly right for some reason.
