Ok, let me start this off by stating I'm a fairly seasoned reader of vampire fiction. I'm not a fanatic, but I do tend to pick up a lot of books that have to do with vampire love (don't ask why, I have no idea myself lol).

That being said, I really wanted to love this book. I really, truly did. But for some reason I was only merely entertained by this book. The first 2/3 of the book kinda dragged on. Edward and Bella's relationship was back and forth a lot of the times. Probably the only exciting thing about the first part of the book was when Edward saves Bella from being crushed like a tin can. The character development was poor and probably limited due to the fact that it was written in first person so we only got to see Bella's point of view. And when the two FINALLY get together, it happens so instantly that I think, "Wait, what just happened? Why? Because she smells good?"

Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate the book at all. I was just underwhelmed by it. Perhaps my judgment was clouded by another lesser known young adult/vampire romance series called The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith, which I read in high school and loved. Although maybe it's because I'm 15 years older and out of that "young adult" stage in my life and the drama of young adult fiction doesn't excite me as much. Who knows? Either way, I did enjoy this book and plan on reading the rest of the series to give it a fair chance. Heck I might even re-read the Vampire Diaries series (if I can find it) and draw a comparison.
