Beyond Religion: Ethics for a Whole World
by Dalai Lama XIV, Alexander Norman
by Dalai Lama XIV, Alexander Norman
I read this book immediately after "The Expanding Circle" by Peter Singer. Both books covered the same topic, the evolution of ethics. It was interesting comparing the insights from two different perspectives, one from a scientific standpoint the other from a spiritual standpoint. The work from Peter Singer was much deeper and conclusive, I enjoyed his inquiry and spin. Beyond Religion by the H H Dalai Lama was considerably easier to read, less analysis and theory, with lovely anecdotes thrown in to lighten the topic. I enjoyed both, and would recommend both if you have an interest in the evolution of ethics.
