I like the questions Bell asks. I like the answers he offers. Despite the harsh criticism and cries of heresy leveled at Bell by conservative reactionaries (I believe the primary accusation is that he denies the existence of a hell), Bell can’t be criticized for not using the Bible as a source. Indeed, it’s difficult to find a page in this book that doesn’t contain a Scripture reference. I didn’t attempt to scrutinize his contextual applications, but he does a convincing job of synthesizing these into his main points.

Ironically—again in light of the doctrinal criticism this book has received—Love Wins may be one of the most evangelical books I’ve read, i.e. in its presentation of God as being a lover of all of humanity (and the earth), especially through the person of Jesus.
