Things tend to go a bit slow when it's 480 pages long AND it's the holidays. But, I finally got through it. I read it without reading the actually Mysterious Benedict Society trilogy and it didn't matter because the story was just about Nicholas, a nine-year-old with an insane intelligence (read: annoying) and narcolepsy but his quest to find the orphanage's mistress's treasure is just the activity that Nicholas needs to try to escape the evil Spiders gang of three from bullying him.

I wasn't blown away but it wasn't horrible. It's not for the faint at heart as all three in the trilogy and this prequel are all between 300-500 pages.

Lynette How did you read it? Has it already come out?

Alicia I review for a magazine and received the ARC.

Lynette Ahh...that's pretty awesome!

Emily I might have agreed with your review, but I've read the trilogy. I've found that prequels are more often than not geared to those who are already fans. And while "The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict" can be read alone, it really is better to have read the others first, as you want to know more about Benedict and how he ended up where he did. I loved it and could easily see how the young Nicholas in this book grew to the Nicholas readers know from the Mysterious Society trilogy.

Lynette ^^ Emily: I COMPLETELY agree with you! For me, that's what made it so much fun! There were those little hints about stuff that would become important later on (the plaid quilt... :D) and just everything, how, as you said, seeing how he 'grew to the Nicholas readers know" it was such an awesome book! I loved it!
