All right, The Economist, you are smarter than me. I admit it. The Economist rated this book one of the best of 2011. And it is good. It's an examination of Pakistani society on a minute level. Very minute. It reads like a PhD thesis; I was surprised to see the author is a journalist and not an academic. I didn't get very far. It was just too dense to hold my attention.

After reading Obama's Wars I felt that I needed to know more about Pakistan, a crucial part of our safety and security equation. The part of this book that I read was quite interesting and gave some insight into Pakistani social and political structure. If you are a serious student of world affairs, I highly recommend it.
