While it starts with the transport of 11 wild elephants from Africa to zoos in Tampa and San Diego, this is really the story of the management and expansion (and later, if not downfall, leveling off) of the Tampa Zoo. There are engaging portraits of individual animals and zookeepers, but the real driver of the story is the Zoo's CEO, who made the zoo "successful" by growing it in size, importance, budget, and visitors; but who kind of mismanaged his actual employees.
