In the fourth Lucky O'Toole mystery, Deborah Coonts combines the magic of Las Vegas, a love story and murder. I've always been fascinated with Houdini stories and in So Damn Lucky, his water torture chamber claims another magician. Of course it has to happen a the Babylon Casino, and Lucky - the resident "fixer" has a mystery to solve. Her mother, Mona, has her own set of worries - a new brothel opens up down the road from Mona's, the Big Boss is let in on a secret and Lucy's man, Teddie, comes back from his rock and roll tour, and Lucky feels anything but lucky. All of this on the edge of Halloween. Halloween in Vegas - magic of a different kind. If you haven't read the series, you should. Lucky O'Toole is a heroine who doesn't mince words. The series is clever, funny and page-turning. Bravo, Deb Coonts for having another hit on your hands. I expect someone will option Lucky for the big screen soon. Can't wait until this one hits the shelves.
