The long-awaited sequel to StarCrossed is just as compelling and hard to put down as the first one. Digger is back in town after her frightening experiences in the north, but as she goes about her business she is captured and thrown in the prison Keep. The cell they put her in is already occupied: by the noble, Durrel Decath, accused of murdering his wife. Somebody, it seems, wants Digger to help clear his name--hence the reason she's tossed into his jail cell. As she begins to take on the task, she finds a nest of intrigue and incredible danger--but she also finds that she is falling for Durrel. Bunce's complex and original fantasy world is a wonderful place to spend time, and fans of Tamora Pierce will cotton to this series. A major cliffhanger ends this installment. Upper junior high, high school, adult.
