This was a sometimes fun and often quite disturbing little novel (it's so short, it's almost a novella). The premise (a murder mystery, narrated by a 15-year-old boy with autism/Asberger's) is fascinating, but unfortunately, this gave the whole book a gimmicky feeling. Although I enjoyed the book, I could never quite get past the "schtick." It didn't waste my time, but I don't think it will stick with me.

Rebecca It's funny, I had the opposite experience wherein I really expected it to feel gimmicky, but ended up just finding it charming. It's guess it's all about having low expectations - remind me to stop recommending books :)

Inder Don't you dare!! Now I feel kind of bad, because I thought many aspects of the book were charming! But I think you're right about the low expectations - this book had been pretty hyped to me, and at that point, disappointment is inevitable.

Rebecca At least you can cross it off your 1001 books now :)
