This is the book once to be read before you can not read anymore. This novel influenced by Nietzsche's idea which attempt to criticize Plato's and Christian's resistance to the laughter. Eco portrayed his two main characters: one as an old scientific-minded Franciscan; the other as a young, quietly innocent monk, both lived in Middle Age. They had to investigate the serial-killing which took place in the church and the secret of the lost book I won't spoil you which book was or who was its author. The medival atmosphere was so strong that it is not hard to recognize Eco as one of the specialists in Middle Age. He did a great job. However, I would like to advice you a thing. Keep reading it slowly. Do not rush. Then you will percieve and drink in its attraction.
