Slow start. Tried to read it like a fantasy novel at first, failing miserably, but then picked it back up and attempted to read it like a British comedy of manners, and it went easily.
I don't see myself reading it again anytime soon, but it was a pleasure to see the author actually manage to keep her storylines under control and bring them all together into an ending that was appropriate both in scope and detail.
