Nonfiction is not my genre of choice; however, I have been reading a lot of nonfiction these days. My father is a HUGE Bill O'Reilly fan and I borrowed this book from my mom's Kindle. My husband is a big history buff and our T.V. is normally set to either Discovery channel or the History channel at night. This book has taught me that there are much more interesting thrillers and stories to be found through history than any fiction book author could invent. This book was very engaging and held my attention throughout the book. I kept saying "Why didn't I know any of this?" and made me think about what exactly had I learned about Lincoln throughout my education.

After reading many reviews on this book, I think too many of them are politically motivated. Its not a 5-star book to me but definitely deserves more than 1,000 1-star ratings on Amazon reviews. Taking the book itself without looking at who the author is and how I feel about his TV show or political views, I think this book is a must read. I wish I had books like this in school - I would probably be more interested in history like my husband is rather than just learning the material to get an A.
