The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is a story about a china rabbit and his journey from owner to owner as he starts to understand love. Even though this book is maybe geared toward younger grades, I could see seventh graders really enjoying the book (I read her book The Tale of Despereaux in eighth or ninth grade). I really enjoyed this book. I thought the language was fun and engaging (loved the use of "and" in the book). I also really cared about Edward, even though he was very vain at the beginning of the work. Whenever Edward was hurt, I cringed. The book also addresses the complex topic of love well, which I enjoyed. I would recommend this book to young readers and any adults that like an enjoyable, short read.
