After surviving an attack from the serial killer The Professional life has not gone back to normal for Brittany Garyson. She feels like she can't leave her house, lead a normal life, or go out in public. But she has decided to not let what happened to her take completely over her life. She decides to move forward on building the deck she always wanted in her back yard.

Alex Crawford is new to town, trying to be closer to his dead wife's mother, because that is the only connection his daughter Emily has left of her mother. After living his life as a lawyer in Chicago, Alex wants a fresh start and to try something new with his life. So he becomes a carpenter.

Alex is just what Brittany needs. In more ways then one. But when little things start to go array; like red balloons showing up on her mail box, an invitation to a party, and other unexplained thing, she feels like The Professional is coming back for her. Her sanity is questioned by her brothers and Alex, and Brittany feels alone and scared. Yet Alex is there to comfort her and get her out of her safe box like no one else has been able to do for months.

As things start to come up there is more then meets the eye and a romance that comes out of no where.

I LOVED this book. It had a little bit of everything. Mystery. Romance. A Back Story.

You may not have known what happened to Brittany with The Professional, but as the story goes on she reveals a little here and there about what happened. You feel for her because even as she feels like she is this scared person, jumping at every shadow, you see her for the strong person she has really become after such a horrific event.

Alex is this man that every girl dreams of. (Well, at least I did) He is handy, wears a tool belt, and is a loving father to a cute little 6 year old. He is a very believable character and lovable.

Overall, I was very impressed and want to find more of Cassidy's books to read.
