Odd Thomas (Odd Thomas, #1)
by Dean Koontz
by Dean Koontz
I started reading Koontz when I was 12. He was a constant companion growing up. This book reminded me why I enjoyed him so much back in the day and how his writing had influenced my own. This book was recommended by a friend and coworker a few years ago, I'm sorry it took me this long to get to it.
Odd Thomas is a refreshing character full of quirks, which I adore. I enjoyed the first person POV and the other 'oddly' interesting characters that make up the relationships in Odd's life. It's a fast paced read as the writing reflects Odd's earnest and uncomplicated personality, save for the complexity that comes with being able to see/converse with the dead. If you were a fan of the TV series 'Medium' or 'Dead Like Me' you may gravitate to this book/series. So, if you're looking for a little Elvis, a touch of love, a side of death, a glass of humor, some splashes of evil, and refills of suspense - Odd Thomas may be the order for you.

As is per usual Koontz, if you're sensitive to acts of violence, gore, or not interested in the cruelty/evil that can lurk in human hearts this may not be the read for you.
