I really did like this book. Mainly because I like books about dystopian societies.
Matched is about a dystopian society in the future. In the society people are matched with eachother. It is most common that the people don't know eachother. 'The Society', as it is called in the book matches people in other provinces. So in the book it takes the perspective Cassia. It starts with her at her match banquet. She then finds out that she is matched with her best friend, Xander. This is uncommon for people who are matched to know eachother and so they get some privileges that most matched don't get until later in time. So after the banquet, she gets a card with Xander's personal info. When she goes to read his card, at first Xander's face comes up but then the screen goes black and a boy named Ky appears on the screen. As she looks into it she was 'accidentally' matched with him. Ky cannot have a match because he is an aberration. What that means is he wasnt born into The Society. As the book progresses she gets to know Ky and starts to fall in love with him and vice versa. Xander is upset because she is chosing Ky over him and that she was matched with him and not Ky. "You saw both of our faces but chose to see his."--Xander. Soon after The Society finds out about Ky and Cassia and they threaten them make them stay away from eachother. Cassia and Ky refuse to listen to reason and they are sent away from eachother. Ky is forced to go to the outter provinces and fight for The Society againt the Rising, which you find more about in the next book. Cassia is sent to a camp to help her choose her future job in society.
