Shadow Games (Star Wars)

This is my first Star Wars novel by either of these authors, and I'm pretty happy with them. The galaxy from the point of view of touring musicians is something that we haven't seen before, and it works. Dash Rendar is a good choice of protagonist, since he's a known character with minimal established backstory. I will say that his depiction here didn't seem to square with that in Shadows of the Empire; maybe we're supposed to believe that he became really jaded in the few ensuing years.
While I enjoyed the plot and characters overall, there was one thing that REALLY bothered me. I don't want to go into overt spoilers, but the book implies yet another account of an event that already has at least three conflicting accounts in the Expanded Universe. (Unless I read too much into this, but I don't think so.) I have no idea why the authors saw fit to do this, unless they meant it as a joke. It is, as I noted, implied rather than stated outright, so I suppose that continuity nerds will just write it off.
