Elements of this were quite enjoyable - it was certainly deeper and richer in texture than the saccharine version of "A Christmas Carol" I've seen portrayed on television. However, it was still a bit schmaltzy. I think I prefer Dickens in novel form to this holiday-and-message-oriented format, where everything is condensed enough that anything less than amazing shows up more clearly.
GREAT for looking at tone, however. I would probably use passages rather than the whole as a mentor text, but the whole could work, as well. It might prompt interesting conversation about sexism and religion along with the expected topics of people changing/redemption.
